Dutch A1.3

Lesson 6 · Grammar

Plurals in -en: no change to the base word

Meervoud op -en: stam blijft gelijk

With these words, keep the base word unchanged and add -en: boek → boeken (book → books). The plural article is de: het boek → de boeken. We only practise words whose base spelling does not change. In these exercises, the ending is always -en. Notice that Dutch een broek means one pair of trousers, and een schoen means one shoe.
